Drones and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)

Since my last post was about cross-training across different engineering teams, this post is about cross-training with different logistics teams at General Atomics!

Last year for a couple months, I had the opportunity to work with an unmanned aerial vehicle: MQ1C Gray Eagle

My primary role was to baseline and perform Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)* on the MQ-1C.

*this also referred to as “Repair Level Analysis” (RLA)

In the past, I have performed LORA on EMALS and AAG. So, this was my first time doing LORA on a much smaller system such as the MQ-1C Gray Eagle.

It was an interesting experience! I think the biggest challenge was dealing with the many cables and wires involved in a small amount of space, but nonetheless, I overcame it by understanding the system diagrams, drawings, and specifications.

On the other hand, my biggest accomplishments were performing the LORA on a new system in a short amount of time, and documenting knowledge from a now retired LORA expert from the team.
